Beware of foreclosure companies that contact you after the foreclosure has been filled in court and promise to help you in exchange for an upfront fee It is illegal to charge a fee in NC

Steer clear of people  who want you to make your mortgage payment to them and discourages you to consult an attorney.

Watch out for equity skimming. This scam happens when  when a buyer promises to pay off your mortgage if you sign over the deed.Remember, signing over the deed does not mean you are not responsible for paying your mortgage.

Other scam tips are the schemer refuses to put his promises in writing, pressures you in signing paperwork.

Report foreclosure scams to the attorney general's office by calling 877-5-no-scam

Brenda,

I just recently wrote a blog pertaining to mortgage rescue scams, also.  It seems the crooks find a way to take advantage of every type of situation. Thanks for the great information!
